About Project Vastram

About Vastram

Vastram, was an online store that presented a unique ranges of ethnic apparels and accessories (Bags, Purses and Jewellery) at affordable prices. The apparels from “The Vastram Collection” were exclusive pieces that were carefully picked and designed by us and hand crafted by our Tailor.

The Idea Behind Vastarm

Vastram was a joint venture that was undertaken by me and my good friend Nalini between March 2010 to April 2011.  We invested our money and channelized our creativity into an online fashion boutique - "Vastram", Which means "Clothes" in our sacred language "Sanskrit".

Our Collection

Vastram presented three collection in a span of one year.  They comprised of the Spring/Summer collection -  The Free Spirit Collection, the Summer/Fall collection - The Indo-Western Collection and the Fall/Winter collection - The Indian Chic Collection.

I have posted photos and description of jewellery, clothes and bags from the "Free Spirit Collection" in this blog.

Our Mode of Operation

1. Customers had to visit our website at www.vastramfashions.com to make a purchase through the page. They had to supply us with their first and last name, address, telephone number or other "real world" personal contact.

2. Then they had to place an order along with the product code. Once we received a request, we gave them an order confirmation through phone.  Once the order confirmation took place, and we received the payment, we shipped the products and emailed the customers the shipping confirmation and tracking number of the package.

3. Payment were received from the customer via online transfer to Vastram's bank account. Vastram's bank account details were given to the customers through phone. Goods were dispatched as soon as the payment was made.  In case of customers who didnt have access to make payments online, we accepted payments from them via DD/MO/Cheque or Cash.

Future Ventures

Will we do this again sometime in future? If time permits, Yes, we certainly will as it was not only a profitable venture but also something we enjoyed doing.
